- Sikhism emerged in India of the 15th century by Guru Nanak.
- They were in an environment with heavy conflicts between Hindu and Muslim.
- Sikhism has one god so there are multiple names for it, but the most common name is Waheguru.
Main Beliefs:
- Afterlife
- Sikhism believe they shouldn't fear death because then they will be in paradise with god.
- Sikhs also believe that the people that live good lives have nothing to fear if there Sikhs of non-Sikhs.
- They also believe that they will get the best result possible in afterlife if they do well in the cycle with birth and death.
- Another way Sikhs can go to afterlife is if they reincarnate, which means that the soul of the body comes back to the earth, and resolve problems, then merge with God.
- They believe that the actions you make will determine what form of life you will have when you reincarnate.
-Purpose of life:
- To purify yourself, and meditate in god.
- To build close loving relationships with god.
- To overcome there self
- Align life with the will of God.
- To become a "saint solider" or fight for the good of the religion.
-Rules:
- Follow the 4 cardinal commandments.
- Respect the one and only God.
- Do the baptism and Initiation.
- To follow the 10 rules of Gurus who is the founder of Sikhism.
- To not worship any idols.
-Do's and Don'ts:
- Do- Keep all hair covered and unchanged.
- Do- Meditate and read or recite daily prayers.
- Do- Follow the 10 Gurus.
- Do- Respect all equal rites regardless of what rank, gender, color, etc.
- Do- Share with others especially those in need.
- Don't- Smoke or use intoxicants.
- Don't- Pray to any demigods.
- Don't- Cut there hair.
- Don't- Practice superstition rituals.
- Don't-Eat meat from sacrificial practices.
